About me

My name is Kristina Aspén and I work as an illustrator.

The dream of becoming an illustrator started when I was in the 9th grade and apprenticed with an illustrator.

After high school, I had my goal in mind and therefore went on a 1-year education in illustration and graphic design at Folk University and then I went to art school Basis in Stockholm.

 

But life took other paths and I entered another industry, namely face painting, body painting and make up and I started my company Kristina Art AB.

These years have been a fun time and it made me develop my painting in a slightly different way than I imagined.

It also gave me the title of winner of the Nordic body painting championships in 2012. But after 10 years in that industry, I started longing to paint on paper again.

 

When Covid-19 took over the world and face painting jobs disappeared, I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream of working as an illustrator. I got a job to paint pictures for a series of 4 children's books about a spider called Imse Dumse.

Although I have now focused on children's book illustrations, I can also make illustrations for all sorts of other types of projects.

I freelance and do all the illustrations digitally.
